InstallSQLAgentSecurity failed (XXXXX,LocalSystem,87)

hi all,
i'd like to install MSDE that comes bundled with ms livecomm server.
but during the installation i get (using cmd params: /l*v ):

i read about this behavior in ms's knowledgebase, but i dont
know how to update to sp3 of this msde cause its bundles with
the server...
any ideas how i get this msde installed on my win2003 server ?

if the bundle is not updated to service pack 3a, you can get it for free at

I (actually one of our clients) is receiving an InstallSQLAgentSecurity
failed error in the msde install log.

I've seen the following article

However, the Server service is running and it still won't start up. The
user is logged in as the Administrator, so is there anything else this can
be. We have this come up every now and then and we really don't have many
options to solve this.

worked fine. Changed them back after and all continued to work.

Trying to install MSDE2000 on a clean Win2000Pro laptop. Installing from the SqlRun01.Msi file. According to the log it fails at.....

I can find where MS says there is an error, and it is Error# 60005, but nothing else.

I need to know what the problem is and how to fix it...

Error: MSDE2000 fails to install correctly.

To Verify: Press Start|Run. Type "msiexec /i" <the fully qualified name and location of the sqlrun01.msi file> "/L* c:\msi.log" Press OK. This will run the install and place a log file called msi.log on the c:\. Check the log file for the word "Fail". Log should indicate that InstallSQLAgentSecurity failed.

Problem: File and Print Sharing are not enabled.* You will know this is not enabled if you are missing the "Service" service in the Services applet in Administrative Tools or
Control Panel.
