Installing Standard 2005 on a server that has Enterprise 2000

If I want to install Standard 2005 onto a server that currently has
Enterprise 2000:
1. Will it lead to problems?
2. Do I have to do a full UNINSTALL of Enterprise 2000?
3. Is it a BAD IDEA?
Thanks.

Nope. For a clean sql install you can uninstall 2000 and then install 2005.

1) No problems
2) Not at all - both can run side by side, although SQL 2005 will be a
named instance
3) Not at all - this is one of the options for upgrading from 2000 to 2005.
