Installing SQL server 2005 evaluation

After unzipping the download I have run the splash.hta file. I then chose run the sql native client installation wizard. I then receive the installation package is not supported by this processor type. Contact your product vendor. I am installing this for a class I am taking on a test station. It is a PIII 863 with 512 MB or Ram, running windows 2003 enterprise server SP1. I have looked at the hardware guidelines and it seems this is enough to run it. Any ideas?Are you sure you did not download any 64bit images ? What does the Splash Screen tell you ?

|||Across the top of the splash screen is says SQL Server 2005 (Disk 1 of 2). Then the start options, prepare, install, other information. At the bottom it has Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Evaluation edition. No where does it mention 64bit.|||I was able to find a link to the SQL Server 2000 evaluation edition, and may opt to install that if I cannot corrent the other issue. Does anyone have any other ideas?|||That really does sound like the message displayed when you run a 64-bit application on a 32-bit operating system. Can you try to double click on setup.exe and see if it displays a similar message? If so, it would be displayed even before you see the license dialog.|||Just one quick thing to add. When I downloaded the evaluation edition, I only saw one download. I assumed that when did you the install you chose whether to install the 64bit version or the 32bit version. Are there two seperate downloads for this, one for each version?|||

After reviewing all 3 downloadable links, it appears the X86 download is the non 64 bit download. After looking at the one I downloaded and installed, it appears it is the 64 bit version. Why the 32 bit version is named X86, I am not sure.

That is the correct behavior that you are seeing. The three packages are:

x86 - for all 32-bit machines
x64 - for x64 (AMD-64) 64-bit machines
ia64 - for ia64 (Itanium) 64-bit machines

Installing SQL Server 2005

Hello.
I have a DC with a member server. I attempted installation and repeatedly
receive the warning regarding admin user rights. Since I can't get past
this, I can't install. I tried everything under the sun: create a new
admin, use current admin, log onto the member server locally, sign onto the
DC. Nothing works.
How can I do an installation? My only other thought was to begin the
install on the DC and point it to the C: drive of the member server.
Any thoughts.Hi Zig
Do you have any policy's running on the member server, have a look if the
user your trying to install with have the necessary permissions in the local
system policys.
